 Stittsville, Bantam B2 Steelers win Cougar Cup!

The Hubert Seguin Cougar Cup, held in Gloucester during the weekend of January 13th to January 15th, hosted an exciting tournament that guaranteed three games for each team as well as a skills contest set for Saturday evening followed by an all star game which was proudly represented by Justin Laframboise and Zack Gillis. Sixteen teams entered the Bantam B tournament and were divided into four divisions with the top winner of each moving forward into the semi finals.

Speak Out Clinic

The ODHA is hosting one last Speak Out clinic at the ODHA Office Saturday January 28th, 2012 from 9-1 pm.  There is no charge for high school students. The fee is $17.75.

In order to promote goalie development within the league, SMHA is holding additional goalie clinics throughout January and  February, again at the CGD facility at 145 Iber Road.

Stittsville Minor Hockey Association - Goalie Clinics

In order to encourage goalie development in the Association, SMHA has arranged with Complete Goaltending Development to hold a series of Goalie training sessions at their facility.  CGD has just opened an ice pad at 145 Iber Road, dedicated to goalie development.  The sessions will be 1 hour in duration and will have a maximum of 12 goalies per session.  The cost per goalie will be $20 per session.  CGD will provide two instructors for each session.

Stittsville Bantam A1 Rams played in the WEHL Holiday Classic held at the Bell Sensplex on the weekend of December 9-11 and went on to win all 5 games they played.

Stittsville PeeWee Ice Dragons won the 30th Annual Wally Beavis Memorial Tournament House League division in a thrilling 4-3 victory over CHRL Roy Nichols on Sunday.  The Ice Dragons had to go against the undefeated other Stittsville PeeWee team in the semi finals to make it to the championship game.

Coaches Clinic on November 27th
 
The Stittsville Minor Hockey Association is hosting a coaches clinic on Sunday, November 27 from 4:30-6:00PM at the Bell Sensplex. The clinic is for all head coaches and assistant coaches in IP, Novice and Atom. The focus of the clinic is to help coaches make the most out of practice time. It is strongly suggested that all first or second year coaches attend the clinic. Food and beverages will be served at Stanley's restaurant after the session. A goalie instructor will also be present to demonstrate how to engage goalies in practices.

Topics that will be covered include:
- Getting the most out of your 50 minute practice
- Effectively using on-ice help
- Drills for a half ice format
- Skills breakdown
- How to use your goalie during practices
