Annual General Meeting for all SMHA members

Hold the date - SMHA Annual General Meeting is April 17th: Details will follow soon.  We heard loud and clear that last year’s meeting was too long and there was not enough communication of key issues ahead of time.  Read the latest blog post to find out the key dates leading up to this meeting, and how you can help set the agenda.  After all, it is your meeting.

Nominations are now open

Nominate someone or volunteer yourself to join the executive and make a difference in your player's hockey future.

  • VP Support Services - 2 year term
  • VP Finance - 2 year term
  • Director, Hockey Development - 2 year term
  • Secretary - 2 year term
  • Director House - 1 year term
  • Director Competitive - 1 year term
  • *President - 1 year term

Nominations for open executive positions must be in to secretary_2@stittsvilleminorhockey.com by April 1.  You can nominate yourself or any other SMHA member and you can be nominated for more than one position.  Names will be published by April 10th and if more than one person is nominated, a vote will be held at the AGM.

* If Craig Goodwin, currently elected President,  is not able to return to the SMHA by April 1, we will be accepting nominations for someone to serve the year remaining in his term. To be eligible for a nomination, a member must have served as an elected member of the Executive in one of the previous two years.

Boundary Discussion

At the District 4 meeting on Feb 7th,  representatives from West Carleton and Richmond made a proposal for the members of D4 to consider extending their boundaries for both House and Rep B hockey to include some of the geography that is part of SMHA. At this time there is no motion on the table, just a proposal so please don’t read too much into this, but word gets around in the hockey community so best you know what we know and have a chance to weigh in on our blog so we can take your opinions into account.

Checking/Non-Checking Program Review

Thanks to everyone who completed the Program Review Survey - we had the best participation level ever for an SMHA survey!  This is important as it means the results can be trusted to represent the views of the membership.  The analysis is underway and we'll soon share the results with everyone - on the blog of course so you can comment on the results.

Coach Evaluation

It's also time for the annual coach evaluation survey.  It's important that we all take time to provide feedback on our coaches.  It helps them improve and it helps the Coaching Selection Committee pick the best coaches possible for your children.  As always, the survey is anonymous and the summary results (not the individual responses) are shared only with the coach and with the SMHA president and coach selection team.

Enjoy the end of your season, best of luck in the playoffs and hope to see you all in person at the AGM
