Affiliation Overview

The SMHA believes strongly in the affiliate program and encourages affiliated players to be used as often as possible.

Affiliation provides teams with additional players when regular team members are unable to play, and gives players the opportunity to experience hockey at a higher level.

Player Affiliation Form

The affiliating coach must ask permission from the home head coach each time a player is requested to affiliate.

*Should a player play a sixteenth (16th) game with a higher-level team, the coach of that team will be suspended pending a hearing at HEO. The affiliating team also risks losing any points gained during the use of that affiliated player.

Coach Responsibilities

• Tracking your player’s participation with a higher-level team.
• Tracking players you affiliate from a lower-level team.

Please be sure to mark the player as “AP” on the game sheet and cross off any missing players and coaches.
